In an interview on Hailie Jade’s podcast, Just a Little Shady, Evan revealed that he had asked Eminem for permission before proposing. He used Hailie’s birthday celebration in December 2022 as the perfect moment to seek her father’s blessing. Evan recalled the moment, saying, “I had to do it then or it wouldn’t happen that day.” He followed Eminem downstairs and asked while Eminem was grabbing Hailie’s birthday cake, making it all work out.
